Fund Raising:
Fund Raising minimum from each team member is $500, individuals is $600. Don’t be
intimidated by the fundraising commitment. It is easier than you think to achieve.
Our top fundraiser raised $8,000 last year and several team members exceeded $1,000.
Betty Knows Fundraising.
Betty has fundraised for years for various races and various amounts, she can help.
Fundraising at any level seems daunting and you are always worried that you are
going to have to fork over cash yourself! $500 is a very do-able commitment. Betty
has completed the Breast Cancer 3-day walk 5 times and their minimum is over $2,000.
If you need assistance, Betty can guide you through all the steps you need to take
in order to successfully achieve your goal.
The 2 main things you would need to do are:
- Craft a letter that personalizes it is for your audience (example: in honor of turning
30, in memory or honor of a friend/family members, for challenged athletes who don’t
let circumstance stop them.)
- Include your donation website in your email campaign so they can easily make a donation.
Also remember people who don't have email and do a mail campaign!
Here is a way to break it down to not be so overwhelming:
- Out of all the friends and family you know, are there 10 people who will donate $50?
- Or 5 people who will donate $100?
- Or 20 people who will donate $25?
Any of these 3 will mean you have achieved your goal!!! And usually it is a combination
of all of the above and most team members exceed their goal!
Speaking of goals, it is very important to set your goal on your CAF donation website at $1,000 or $1,500. A higher goal encourages
people to donate more. If you are near your goal people might not donate.
If you are looking for other ways to raise money, organize your team, other teams or individals to host a garage sale, bake off, happy
hour, etc to raise money. Betty will also be organizing these types of events for those interested. Make sure she knows if you are interested.
